Rising Above the Lies: Conquering Imposter Syndrome

Ever feel like you're not good enough? Same.

There’s a freaking reason for it and this GaryVee video gets straight to the point.

That annoying little voice in your head that tells you you're not as good as everyone else in the room. Like you don't belong. But guess what? It's all a big lie.

Feeling imposter syndrome is a sign that you're pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. And that's where the magic happens.

So, how can you kick imposter syndrome to the curb? Here are a few tips:

  1. Name that voice

Give it some awful name that takes its power away. Seriously, it doesn’t deserve to have a say in your life.

  2. Find a strong support system

Surround yourself with people who believe in you and also have a growth mindset. We talked about that here.

  3. Keep a brag file

It's basically a collection of your accomplishments. Take a peek at the file when ***** shows up.

  4. Be nice to yourself

Embrace your mistakes and choose to learn and grow from them.

  5. Do the thing

Take on the challenge. Be OK with feeling uncomfortable. All the magic happens when you get out of your head and act!

Did You Know? Like Really Know…

The heart is the hardest working muscle in the body and beats approximately 100,000 times per day

So let's take care of it. Here are 5 heart-healthy foods and drinks:

  • Fatty fish

Salmon has high levels of omega-3 fatty acids which help reduce inflammation.

  • Berries

Packed with antioxidants and fiber to help lower blood pressure and inflammation.

  • Leafy greens

Kale and spinach are rich in vitamins and minerals which help reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

  • Nuts and seeds

Almonds are high in fiber, protein, and healthy fats and are linked to lowering bad cholesterol levels.

  • Red wine

Resveratrol found in red wine helps prevent blood clots and lowers bad cholesterol. Moderation is key here.

Q: I started walking again to try to get in better shape. I'm taking it slow before getting into workouts. I'm trying to hit the 10,000 steps but my shins are KILLING ME. Anything else I could be doing that won't bring me pain?

A: Setting a target for steps can be pretty arbitrary so don’t feel like you need to hit that number. The World Health Organization suggests aiming for 150 to 300 minutes of moderate activity per week, which translates to around 21 to 40 minutes per day on average. In a previous bite, we actually talked about how many steps you should aim for!
