Mom Dies of Water Intoxication

A 35-year-old mother-of-two tragically died after consuming a large amount of water in a short period of time.

Here’s what happened

During the 4th of July, she began to feel intensely dehydrated and ended up drinking 64 ounces of water in just 20 minutes.

That’s almost a 6-pack of Dasani water bottles.

Shortly after, she collapsed in the garage of her home and was later pronounced dead due to water intoxication.

What is Water Intoxication?

It's rare but it's caused by drinking too much water too fast. This messes with your body's electrolyte balance.

According to the Mayo Clinic intake recommendations for healthy adults can vary based on age, sex, activity level, and overall health but here’s a rule of thumb:

  • 11.5 cups for women

  • 15.5 cups for men

Don't forget that a portion of your water intake comes from food.

Tips for hydration:

  1. Space out your water intake throughout the day and avoid drinking excessive amounts at once.

  2. Check-in with your urine. A pale yellow color (think light lemonade) is best. Clear pee can be a sign that you're drinking too much water.

Did you catch the US Classic this weekend?

Simone Biles made her grand comeback after a well-deserved 2-year break to prioritize her mental health.

And let me tell you, she absolutely nailed it! The queen of the gymnastics world proved once again why she's at the top of her game.

Not only did she crush the competition, but her victory also qualified her for the upcoming U.S. National Championships.

My favorite part?

Watching the gymnasts bust out their dance moves. A good reminder to always keep the passion alive. Setting a great example for all the girls watching.

And if you want a hype woman, let me tell you, Jordan Chiles is def your girl.

Muscle Soreness - Good or Bad?

You know that post-workout soreness we all hate?

This is called delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). It can make you feel like you got hit by a truck.

Recent research suggests that DOMS might be related to fascia damage and not muscle damage.

What's the solution?

Well, like most things, the middle ground is key.

Light soreness is A-OK! It can be a sign that you're pushing yourself just enough (close to failure in your reps) to see results without going overboard.

Just make sure you're giving your muscles enough time to recover. You should feel good enough to go hard with that muscle group again the next time around.

Oh yeah - don’t forget to get enough protein to help repair your muscles.
