WOW Headlines:

There is a lot going on in the world of wellness (WOW) and it’s impossible to keep up. We searched the internet for interesting things and our favorites of the day.

Ready, set, go (insert Mario Kart start sound effect):

Just go with black

If you are one of those that like a morning iced caramel macchiato while rushing to work - listen up.

Turns out that may be causing series damage.

Americans consume about 22 teaspoons of added sugar a day. The American Heart Association recommends we cut that down to 6.

Sipping pop, energy drinks, and sweetened coffee (insert whatever you drink) regularly was linked to an increased risk of liver cancer and chronic liver disease in postmenopausal women.

This is because of insulin resistance and inflammation in your liver.

You're prob thinkin'... how in the hell am I going to stop drinking my Starbucks?

I’d say just order black, because it’s the best no question about it. But…

All they are saying is tone it down, not cut it out. Treat it like a treat.

Oh and make sure you’ve had a protein-packed breakfast before that first sip to lower that blood sugar spike.

Spinny Spin Spins

Ever been dizzy before?

Ever been dizzy during your workout?

It happens, so here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Am I hydrated?

Not drinking enough water can cause the spins (so can drinking too many cocktails, don’t do that 😂). Drinking before and during your workouts is key.

  2. When did I eat last?

Low blood sugar can cause dizziness so eat an apple with peanut butter before your workout.

  3. Do I have low blood pressure?

Adding some salt to your meals can help, but if symptoms continue make sure to talk with your doctor.

  4. Am I breathing?

We see it all the time, people holding their breath when the workout is getting tough. Tune into your deep belly breathing and think inhale when it's easy and exhale when it's hard.

Did You Know? Like Really Know…

Your personality could be keeping you from the gym.

1 in 4 Adults don't reach the recommended amount of physical activity.

Ever wonder why your friend is super consistent with her workouts and you only make it 2 days?

What if I told you your personality has something to do with it?

We're all motivated differently.

Some of us by rewards (I get a bonus, if I hit my goals) and others by punishment (if I don't come to work, I lose my bonus).

If you're motivated by rewards, your prob like working out more.

And lean towards lower-intensity workouts.

Punishment-driven peeps might struggle to enjoy working out and look for higher-intensity workouts because "Pain, I can't get enough." (Any Three Days Grace fans?)
