Are Your Shoes Sabotaging Your Foot's Natural Shape?

I've been on a vacation with my family and with vacation comes a lot of walking.

By the time you get back to your hotel, your feet are screaming for relief and your toes feel like they've been squeezed by a boa all day.

Know the feeling?

Your shoes could be to blame.

Most of our shoes cause a narrowing effect near the toes.

This can cause bad foot health. Which can lead to issues in the knee, hip, back, and pelvic floor.

The widest part of our foot should be the end of the toes.

Are yours?

Look at your shoes, do your toes have room to wiggle?

Here's what you can do about it:

  • Wear wider shoes.

  • Go barefoot.

  • Use toe spreaders or socks.

I know we can't go barefoot all day, but minimalist shoes are a great option.

They're wider at the toe and the sole is flat.

Having a ton of cushion in your shoes causes muscle weakness because they don’t have to do work.

If you decide to give minimalist shoes a try, start slow. It might take your feet time to get used to.

Did You Know? Like Really Know…

Cottage cheese is stealing the spotlight.

Yes, that lumpy smelly stuff that used to sit in our fridge for weeks before it got tossed because nobody ate it.

It's loaded with protein, fiber, and micronutrients that support your bone health and muscle repair. And did I mention satisfying? All that fiber will keep you feeling full longer.

It’s a nutritional powerhouse.

Don't worry if you can't do dairy, you've got options.

  • Almond milk

  • Cashew

  • tofu

Whether you go with traditional cottage cheese or with an alternative, make it your own and try out some new recipes.
